Stocks – taking a look at commodity shares

NFG, AE, CEI– 07/03/22

With oil making an 8% move up over the weekend, prices look overextended. There may be a small pullback, however, we think prices will continue to rise and supply chains continue to suffer. Here are three oil companies that we think will do well over the next month.

Evraz (LSE:EVR) – 09/03/22

Evraz saw revenue grow to $14B in 2021, up from $9.7B in 2020. Even though Russia is the largest area for revenue, the company still has ongoing operations elsewhere. In fact, still 2/3 of their operations. This certainly supports an argument that the share price is currently undervalued.

There are still major concerns as to how things play out over the coming weeks. Further restrictions could continue to hinder the share price alongside any criticism the company may face regarding their shareholders.

FX – higher volatility leads to more opportunities

EURUSD, EURCHF – 08/03/22

We appreciate that in the long-run, EUR will likely be under pressure from the rising energy prices and the conflict on it’s borders. However, we do think that being long EUR on a bounce could yield strong short term returns vs other currencies. Given the strength of safe havens USD and CHF, we favour shorting both of these to try and eek out further gains as risk gets put back on the table.
